This is a foundational audiobook on shame and vulnerability. ALL women and teen girls struggle with shame, and this is a good starting place for anyone to address what they have begun to identify and work on in their story.

The Four Agreements- Don Miguel Ruiz

The four agreements are: always be impeccable with your word, always do your best, don’t make assumptions and don’t take anything personally. Sounds simple, but this is a great one for people who tend to take things personally and are people pleasers. Also, if someone tends to get too wrapped up in other people.

The Mastery of Love- Don Miguel Ruiz

This is one of the most helpful books on learning not to be dependent upon people or things outside of ourselves for approval, satisfaction, and love. If someone struggles with unhealthy attachment, this is a great book. It can help you learn what love is and is not, and free you up to really love others from a healthy place. **Disclaimer: he says it’s not a religious book or approach, but he does cross over into some religious ideas. If it bothers you, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Just fit it into your own religious framework.

Lost Connections- Johann Hari

An outstanding educational and informative look at depression and anxiety, with actual ways to combat both. He is an investigative journalist, and he shares a lot of research. The book lists 9 causes of depression and anxiety- 2 are chemical/neurological, but the other 7 are actually things that we have control over and can make choices and changes in. If you struggle with these things, it’s a great book.
